The project concept was relatively simple: construct a three-car garage with office above along with the obvious supporting functions such as a bathroom and office storage area. The structure used a mixture of round-milled logs (to match the existing home) and framed-lumber systems such as the main roofline. As well, the existing home was refinished, somewhat out of necessity but also to provide the opportunity for continuity of the appearance of the final stain application across old and new walls.
In the end, the addition seamlessly integrates new-to-old log wall connections and provides a complete visual harmony among old and new. The texture of this quiet suburban neighborhood was greatly enhanced as was the homeowner's lifestyle.
